Johnny's Software Saloon

Weblog where I discuss things that really interest me. Things like Java software development, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Macintosh software, Cocoa, Eclipse IDE, OOP, content management, XML technologies, CSS and XSLT document styling, artificial intelligence, standard document formats, and cool non-computing technologies.

I like writing software, listening to music (mostly country and rock but a little of everything), walking around outside, reading (when I have the time), relaxing in front of my TV watching my TiVo, playing with my cat, and riding around in my hybrid gas/electric car.

Slashdot converts to HTML 4.01 and CSS! - The CSS Weblog - css.weblogsinc.com

Hey, I just read this bulletin this morning and it is great news. Now, the foot-draggers can join the rest of the world and make neater-looking, cleaner, better-organized, and more accessible web pages.

If Slashdot could convert all of their content, then anyone can. Here is what The CSS Weblog said.

It’s been a long time coming, but Slashdot has finally gotten rid of their tables and converted to HTML 4.01 with a full complement of CSS. If they were able to switch their 900k users, 60k stories, and 13 million comments over, then I don’t see how anyone can back away from their very own standards compliant projects. For the designers out there, you may want to take note as they will be looking for a new look soon! Their dated look is really nothing to oggle at, let’s hope they get that redesign contest running quickly!
